Linda Perkins is painting a home portrait

Welcome to the Dot to Dot Paint Shop.

Hi! My name is Linda Perkins, an illustrator and avid sewist who comes from a nature- and art-loving family. Growing up, my family camped in the mountains, fished in the streams, and visited art galleries. My mama taught me to sew when I was very young and encouraged us all to follow our creative dreams. Through fresh, beautiful designs with touches of whimsy and nature, my goal for Dot To Dot Paint Shop is to feed YOUR soul with happiness and contentment, and perhaps even a bit of nostalgia as you revisit memories they inspire.

Custom Home Portraits

Several years ago, after I began painting on a regular basis, a dear friend asked me to paint a home portrait as a gift for her daughter. I agreed to try, with the stipulation that if it didn’t work out well there would be no charge. Well, not only did it turn out well, I discovered that I loved the whole process—capturing a piece of architecture that has so much meaning to someone is such a privilege. Since that time, I have painted many homes, both old and new, and have even painted quite a few churches as well. Hand-Painted Products

As I began painting, ideas for various hand-painted products came to mind. Having been a teacher of young children, naturally some of those products revolve around children and ways to enhance their learning. Other products have been created to simply bring joy to ordinary days and to celebrate the season of Christmas. One of my best-sellers is the Advent to Epiphany calendar that can be used year after year as an daily reminder of the Christmas story.

Inspired by best friends’ request, I also now take orders to add hand-painted details to favorite recipes, creating heirlooms for those that knew and loved the cook. To learn more about the hand-painted products I have created or to purchase one click below.

Art Collections

As an avid sewist my entire life, I have always had a love of pattern and texture—I could spend hours in a fabric store perusing the colors and touching the materials. As soon as I became aware of the field of pattern design, one of my dreams became to see my own artwork on fabric and even household items, and in the last few years, I have begun pursuing that dream more actively. Sometimes I use actual paint and paper for these designs, but more often I create digital art with my iPad and laptop. Click below to learn more about my art collections.

Paint Shop Quilt Patterns

My mama was a quilter. She made beautiful quilts, all by hand, and shared them with each of us in the form of doll quilts, jackets, vests and even bedspreads. they are beautiful and much-loved by everyone that is lucky enough to own one. In fat, when she passed away in 2002, we filled the altar with photos of her propped against many of the quilts she’d gifted.

Years later, inspired by the wonderful modern fabrics available and the popularity of machine piecing, I decided to try my hand at quilting and became hooked!

Sometimes I am unable to find exactly what I am looking for in a quilt pattern, so I create my own using the fabrics I like and the shapes that are in my mind. I am now beginning to release those patterns to others in the name of Paint Shop Patterns. Click below to learn more about my quilt patterns.
